Brimyear Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026
Effective date: October 25, 2026
Operator: 艾斯派索(上海)软件有限公司 (operating under the AIspresso brand; “we”, “us” or “our”)
Privacy contact: [email protected]

This policy explains how Brimyear (缤页, the “App”) processes your personal information and how you can manage it. It applies to the App and to inquiries, feedback and privacy requests you send us about the App.

1. Key points

  • Entries are saved on your device first. When you are signed in to iCloud, allow the App to use iCloud and the service is available, your entries and photos automatically sync to your private iCloud database.
  • Location and stay clues are optional. Entries do not need a place, coordinates or a city. You can choose a place manually when needed. Stay clues are off by default. When enabled, they receive the system’s low-power visit events; they do not continuously record your route or automatically save entries.
  • Saved original photos may contain location and capture time. Share posters generated by the App are ordinary images without this hidden metadata from the original photos. You choose the visible text and photos on a poster. Saving an original photo separately preserves the original file and any location, time and other metadata it already contains.
  • Entries are not automatically public. The current version has no public feed, advertising SDK or third-party behavioral analytics SDK. We do not sell your entries or use them for advertising that tracks you across apps.

2. Information we process and why

The table covers information processed on your device and information transmitted through the relevant services. Information processed locally can still be personal information.

When you use the AppInformation involvedPurpose and handling
Record everyday life, create themes or optionally save placesEntry date, time and time zone; titles, text, mood, manually chosen weather, favorite status, theme names and descriptions, and direct links between themes and entries that you provide or confirm; optional place names, addresses, cities or coordinatesSave, display, search and organize entries on your device; sync when iCloud is available
Add entry photos or custom icons; retain existing theme coversImages you select through a photo picker or take with the camera, including metadata such as capture time and location; Live Photos you add to entries also include a short video with its existing soundRead, preview and frame images on your device. Opening a preview may read the selected photo and its paired video, downloading them from iCloud Photos if needed; previewing alone does not save an entry. Entry-photo storage and sync follow confirmation of your selection and tapping Save. When added as a Live Photo, the photo and its paired video are preserved as they are; turning Live off in the picker preview saves only the currently displayed still image. The App does not read your entire photo library in bulk
Recognize library photos already added to entriesPhoto-library source identifiers that stay on the device, and cross-device source associations that may sync to your private iCloud databaseRecognize photos already added to entries so the picker can mark them as selected. Background association maintenance uses existing Photos authorization, requests no additional permission and does not read original photos or videos. Editing or deleting the source photo, or revoking Photos access, does not automatically change or delete the App’s saved copy
View photo clues in Today’s FootprintsLibrary identifiers and capture times of accessible photos from the selected date; thumbnails read as neededGroup photos into 15-minute intervals on your device. Library clues remain only for the current browsing session; they do not automatically link to places or save entries. Explicit previews or photo selection may read the selected original photo and paired video as described above. Entry-photo storage and sync follow confirmation of your selection and tapping Save
Find a place from a photo or use its capture timeTime, time zone and GPS coordinates in the selected photo, if presentRead metadata locally and use it in an entry after you confirm. Place lookup sends the relevant coordinates or search area to Apple Maps, without sending the original photo
Browse maps, search for cities and places, or fill in place detailsSearch terms, map area, relevant coordinates and map-service place identifiers; current location and accuracy when location access is authorizedUse Apple’s map, place-search and geocoding services to load maps, find nearby places or addresses, and update place details. Requests do not include your theme descriptions, entry text or original photos
Use your current location in an entryLocation, accuracy and original coordinates provided by the deviceObtain location in the foreground as authorized and save readable coordinates. Automatic location or Use Current Location does not look up nearby place names or automatically associate a place. You can clear the location; unavailable or denied location access does not prevent saving an entry
Enable stay cluesSystem-provided stay location, accuracy, arrival or departure time, time zone, and whether you confirm or ignore a clueShow recent stay clues locally. Coordinates are sent to Apple Maps to look up nearby names. Clues themselves do not upload to iCloud; entries created after you confirm and save follow the rules for entries
Sync with iCloudSaved entries, relationships, photos and other saved images; short videos and their sound from saved Live Photos; cross-device photo-source associations; Apple-provided app-scoped account identifiers, record identifiers, update times, deletion markers and sync statusKeep entries consistent across devices using the same Apple Account and prevent data from different accounts being merged incorrectly. The App does not ask for your Apple Account password or read the account’s email address or name to register you
Set preferences and daily remindersMap view, browsed city, selection and order of theme cards on the map, theme sorting and browsing preferences, feature switches, reminder times and similar settingsMostly stored locally to restore the interface and schedule system local reminders. Reminders are off by default and require system notification permission when enabled
Contact usYour email address, message, attachments and any device model, system version, App version or problem details you choose to provideReply, investigate problems, handle privacy requests and follow up as needed. Please provide only information needed to resolve the issue

In the picker preview, a selected Live Photo automatically plays once with its existing sound when Live is enabled. The full-screen viewer starts muted each time it opens; you can turn sound on. The App does not record audio or request microphone permission.

The App does not require a separate Brimyear account, access contacts, text messages, the microphone or health data, or use third-party AI services to analyze your entries or photos. Other personal information you choose to include in photos or text is saved with that content. Please avoid recording or sharing another person’s sensitive information without permission.

If you submit feedback through TestFlight or allow diagnostic information to be shared with developers through Apple’s settings, we may receive feedback, crash reports or operational diagnostics from Apple. We use these to investigate problems and improve stability. Apple’s services and your settings determine what information is provided.

3. Device permissions and sensitive information

Precise location, stay times and location metadata in photos may reveal where you go and your movements. This is sensitive personal information that needs particular protection. We process it to show your current location, help find places, organize visits you select or provide stay clues you choose to enable. Disclosure or inappropriate sharing may reveal your activity patterns. You can decline these permissions, leave location out of entries or select a place manually. Before sharing, you can hide dates or places you do not want to display.

Permission or system capabilityWhen it is usedIf you decline or turn it off
Location access while using the AppWhen using the current city, current location or nearby-place features; after authorization, relevant pages may also obtain location to provide these featuresThe App cannot obtain your current device location. You can still save entries without a place or search for cities and places manually
Location access set to AlwaysAfter you choose to enable Stay Clues and complete system authorizationThe App cannot receive stay clues in the background. Manual entries are unaffected
System photo pickerWhen you choose photosPhotos are not imported, but you can still record a time and optional text or places. The picker does not require access to your entire photo library
Photo-library access for photo cluesWhen you choose Enable Photo Clues in Today’s FootprintsLibrary clues are not shown. You can still use stay clues and make entries yourself. With limited access, only accessible photos appear. This permission is separate from location permission for stay detection
CameraWhen you choose to take an entry photoYou cannot take photos within the App but can select existing photos
Add images to PhotosWhen you choose to save an original to Photos or save a generated image through the system share sheetThat action cannot write to Photos. Available file exports and other sharing methods are unaffected
NotificationsWhen you enable the daily reflection reminderDaily reminders are not shown. You can still open the App to reflect or make entries at any time

You can manage the App’s location, camera and notification permissions in iOS Settings. In Me → Footprints & Reminders (我的 → 足迹与提醒), you can turn off stay clues or daily reminders, or clear clues. Revoking permission stops the related future processing; it does not automatically delete content you previously confirmed and saved.

4. iCloud, maps and other services

1. iCloud and CloudKit

The App syncs through Apple’s private CloudKit database. We do not upload or manage your entries through our own entry-storage servers. The still image and short video with sound in a saved Live Photo are stored on your device and sync to your private iCloud space when iCloud is enabled and available. Cross-device photo-source associations also sync there. We cannot access your private iCloud space. If you are not signed in to iCloud, have not allowed the App to use it or the service is temporarily unavailable, you can still save entries locally. Sync continues when the service becomes available.

You can manage the App’s iCloud access in system settings. Turning sync off does not automatically delete data already stored on your device or in iCloud. Sync is not an independent backup, and the App currently does not offer version-history recovery.

The iCloud service provider, storage and protections vary with your account region, applicable service terms and system settings. The iCloud service applicable in mainland China involves Guizhou-Cloud Big Data (GCBD). See the Apple and GCBD Data Privacy Notice (Chinese) and the privacy policies linked there. For security details, see the iCloud data security overview. This policy does not equate a “private database” with end-to-end encryption of all content.

2. Apple Maps and location services

Maps, search and address lookups use Apple’s system services. Even if you deny access to your device’s current location, a search you initiate, a map area you select or location metadata from a photo may still need to be sent to the map service to complete the request. With stay clues enabled, nearby-name lookups may also occur during brief periods of background execution allowed by the system.

Apple and its relevant map-service providers process service requests and necessary network, device or service diagnostics under their applicable rules. Map services in mainland China may involve Amap. See Apple Maps & Privacy and the legal information displayed in Maps. The App does not separately integrate Amap’s standalone SDK.

3. Sharing and email services you choose

Share images are generated on your device. Creating a poster does not automatically publish it. After you choose a destination in the system share sheet, the image is passed to that app or service; sending is completed through its own workflow. Visible photos, dates, cities, places and text may still contain personal information. Please check them before sending. The receiving service’s privacy rules apply to its subsequent processing. Deleting an entry in the App does not recall copies already sent.

When you choose Save Original, a Live Photo is saved to Photos as one Live Photo, or to Files as a ZIP containing the still image, video and a pairing file. Exported originals retain any capture time, location and other information they already contain.

Email you send us passes through your email service and ours. We use email information only to handle your inquiry, maintain the service and lawfully respond to requests, not to build advertising profiles. Apart from the services you choose above, service providers needed to handle your inquiry or circumstances required by law, we do not otherwise provide your personal information to other organizations. If we add a purpose or recipient, we will inform you and obtain any authorization required by law.

5. Retention and deletion

InformationRetention and cleanup
Themes, optional places, entries and images you confirm and saveRetained locally and, where applicable, in iCloud to provide your personal journal. You can manage them through the available editing and deletion features
Temporary stay clues and cached nearby namesKept within the most recent seven calendar days. Expired clues are cleared when the App loads, refreshes or processes clues. File cleanup is not guaranteed at the exact expiry time while the App is not running. This storage does not participate in the App’s iCloud sync and is configured to be excluded from system backups
Interface preferences and necessary sync stateKept while the relevant features are in use, until replaced by new settings or until the related App data is removed
Temporary share imagesTemporary files are removed when sharing ends or during later cleanup. You manage copies saved to Photos or Files, or sent to recipients, separately
Independent backups you exportStored in the file location you choose. Deleting entries in the App does not automatically remove them. You are responsible for keeping, sharing or deleting them. Files saved through a file or cloud-storage service are subject to that service’s rules
Inquiries, feedback and privacy requestsKept only as needed to handle the matter, follow up or meet legal retention requirements. You can email us to request deletion of information that no longer needs to be retained

You can choose Delete Entry (删除记录) in an entry’s More menu, or edit an entry and remove photos. Deleting an entry does not also delete saved places, themes, other entries, images still referenced elsewhere or originals in your system photo library. Archiving a theme, changing theme associations or clearing a photo slot in the share editor does not delete the original entry.

Deletions are processed locally first and sync to other devices when the network and iCloud are available. To prevent offline devices from bringing deleted content back, the App keeps necessary deletion markers, record identifiers and related sync state. Deleted entry text and photos used only by that entry are removed through the deletion process. Deletion markers are not recoverable historical versions.

In Me → Backup & Restore (我的 → 备份与恢复), you can export an independent backup of content saved on this device and read it offline after unzipping. Backups contain private entries and original photos, including the still images and short videos with sound from Live Photos. They are unencrypted; please keep them secure. Imports are validated and previewed before you confirm a merge. Local import and subsequent iCloud sync happen separately. The App currently has no one-tap feature to clear all entries. Contact us for help removing all local or iCloud data, or for other data-management assistance; we will explain the available features and applicable system actions. Uninstalling the App, signing out of iCloud, turning sync off or deleting a copy on one device does not necessarily delete copies on other devices, in iCloud or in existing system backups. Data in system backups is managed according to your backup settings and Apple’s mechanisms.

6. Your rights and choices

You can use the App’s available features to view and correct entries, delete entries and photos, manage permissions and stay clues, and choose what to share. You can also email us to request access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction or cessation of processing of relevant personal information, withdraw authorization or ask us to explain our processing rules.

Please identify the information concerned and the action you want. To avoid mistakes, we may request information necessary to verify your request. We will not ask for your Apple Account password or verification codes. For data held only on your device or in your private iCloud space that we cannot directly access, we will offer guidance. We will not claim we can read or delete it directly from a backend.

We will verify your request and respond promptly as required by law. If we cannot fully fulfill it, we will explain why and describe available options. You may also complain to the competent personal-information protection authority as provided by law.

7. Information security

The App uses the iOS app sandbox, system file protection and Apple’s cloud-service protections to safeguard data. Access to information such as support emails is limited to personnel who need it for their work and to the purposes described in this policy.

No system can guarantee absolute security. If a security incident affects personal information we process, we will take remedial action and fulfill notification obligations as required by law. Please protect your device passcode and Apple Account, and choose sharing recipients carefully.

8. Minors

The App is not specifically directed at children. Minors should read this policy with a guardian and take care when saving or sharing location, photos and other information.

Personal information about children under 14 must be processed with guardian consent and in accordance with applicable legal requirements. If a guardian finds that such information has been processed without appropriate authorization, they can contact us at the email address in this policy. We will verify the matter and take deletion or other appropriate action as required by law.

9. Updates to this policy

We will update this policy and its date when features or data-processing practices change. For material changes to processing purposes, information categories, recipients or your rights, we will provide an appropriate notice and obtain renewed consent where required by law. A policy update does not replace permissions or authorization required for a particular feature.
